On Thursday, July 17th, the story which follows below was published on a website, DeepBlueHorizonBlogspot.

It would appear that Igor Girkin, a ‘pro-Russian’ separatist leader had targeted an aircraft flying at altitude in the belief it was Ukrainian — ‘pro-Kiev’. He then fired the missile, and proceeded to watch the aircraft plummet to the ground. At some point soon after Igor Girkin posted a message to a Russian social media site (VKontakte), believing that he had shot down an AN-26. It appears clear that somebody at the Blue Horizon website was alerted to the post’s existence and provided a direct link to it.
