Even before the truce in Syria announced on February 27 many analysts had stated Washington and Moscow had been trying to reach at least a partial mitigation of the situation in Syria by reducing the involvement of such external regional players as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar in the crisis. This interpretation seems to be simplified because the agreed document dated back to February 22 is likely to be no more than a tactical maneuver between the actions of the bloody Middle East drama. So not only regional players’ pitfalls could complicate the ceasefire agreement implementation but also the actions of Washington Hawks who didn’t give up the plan to overthrow the Bashar Assad’s regime.
In 2011, Turkey and Qatar used to persuade Bashar Assad to resign and to delegate power to The Muslim Brotherhood organization like in Cairo, today they use terrorist groups as a tool to achieve their goals in Syria. These clients of Ankara and Qatar committed numerous war crimes and acts of genocide against representatives of all ethnic and religious groups in Syria and Iraq.
So Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group emerged in early 2012 as the branch of Al Qaeda and remained in a relative shadow against the background of the well-known Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or more frequently ISIS). It is also noteworthy that Jabhat al-Nusra launched its propaganda both in Arabic and many other languages even before the media appearance of ISIS. This step was aimed at attracting militants from Europe, Central Asia, East Asia and the North Caucasus.
For several years the Western mainstream media have been spending a lot of effort ensuring humanity that terrorist groups like Jabhat al-Nusra are just the fighters for democracy in Syria. According to some experts, it is Jabhat al-Nusra that still remains the main striking force aimed at the forceful removal of legitimate power in Damascus while ISIS controls relatively sparsely populated Euphrates River areas.
If we consider this statement as a working hypothesis the real reason for concerns about the future of Jabhat al-Nusra expressed by some Syrian drama players becomes clearer. So information leak unveiled on February 20 that Russian air strikes had forced the Jabhat al-Nusra leaders to ask the UN for help.
Thus, a cessation of bombing for two or three weeks would be used by terrorists as a cause to regroup and resupply. Measures like these will facilitate the prevention of final defeat of Jabhat al-Nusra which serves Turkish, Qatari, Saudi and American interests in the region.
Terrorists took full advantage of CIA covert assistance programs launched in 2013 (but in fact well before the Arab Spring, at least since 2009) for the so-called moderate Syrian rebels. Besides, terrorists’ advances in the north-western and southern regions of the country allow us to conclude that the CIA-backed groups cooperated with Jaish al-Fatah Islamist coalition which is affiliated with al-Qaeda through Jabhat al-Nusra activity.
While the Pentagon delivers military aid to terrorists mainstream media tries to assure us that Washington struggles against Bashar al-Assad’s tyranny. “The CIA decided to drastically increase lethal support to vetted rebel factions following the Russian intervention into Syria in late September” – The Daily Beast reported. Rebels who previously complained about the CIA’s tight-fistedness suddenly found the floodgates open, particularly with respect to TOW missiles. One rebel explained: “We can get as much as we need and whenever we need them. Just fill in the numbers.”
Arabian experts believe, Jabhat al-Nusra confiscates one-third of the military aid granted by Western countries to the Free Syrian Army. So the Pentagon representatives expressed “regret” over the cases of transferring of some U.S-trained “moderate” militants to Jabhat al-Nusra. So, we witness again the case of careless direct weapons supply to terrorists. According to Robert Fisk who refers to French intelligence reports, during their combat missions the U.S. pilots avoided bombing the positions seized by Jabhat al-Nusra.
At the same time, Russia will not agree with unacceptable proposals because it is fighting against terrorists not for fun unlike the U.S.-led fake coalition. The Russian officials emphasized that military actions, including airstrikes, of the Armed Forces of the Syrian Arab Republic, the Russian Armed Forces, and the U.S.-led coalition will continue against ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist organizations designated by the UN Security Council. Meanwhile, such terrorist groups and their external sponsors contain a major threat to the cessation of hostilities and negotiation process in Syria.
Thus, the Western media creates propaganda background to enhance the supply of weaponry for the so-called moderate militants (terrorist gangs in fact). Anyway, the purpose of Washington will remain the same in Syria – to overthrow the legitimate leadership by any means and turn the country into an epicenter of the global terrorist threat. Implementation of this plan has been prevented by the emergence of the Russian army in Latakia and now we are talking about U.S. attempts to retrieve a military defeat in the field of diplomacy.
This month the Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian forces to begin withdrawal from Syria. However, Russian aircraft will keep bombing Syrian terrorist groups designated by the UN Security Council despite the best efforts of U.S. diplomacy to save their puppets from defeat. “I would like to emphasize that concluded U.S.-Russian agreement on the cessation of hostilities does not apply to militants of ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra and others designated as terrorist by the UN Security Council. Therefore, the Russian Air Force continues bombing the international terrorists groups in the former regime” – Igor Konashenkov, the Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman reminded. The exclusion of the terrorist groups from the truce makes it possible to suppose the fight against terrorists will continue until their irrevocable defeat.
